Latifah A. Hameen published her
first book, Suffering In Silence: Breaking the Cycle of Abuse that is now available for purchase.
She opens up her life and shares 20 years of abusive relationships. This is a self-help book geared mostly toward teens
and young adults, 14-21 years old, to educate them on the abusive relationship cycle.
Ms. Hameen’s second book, Suffering in Healing: Creating a New Cycle
will be released the summer of 2008. In this book, she explains the role she played in the
reoccurring cycles of abuse and then how she continues to be consistent in creating a healthier cycle of behavior for her
life.
Ms. Hameen is also the founder of
Healthy Positive Choices (HPC) a newly formed agency used as a preventive tool in educating
teens and young adults on the growing problem of teen relationship abuse. This is something that isn’t talked about
much or identified because it’s so subtle. Abuse comes in all kinds of forms disguised as love.
There is so much pressure put on teens today to behave in certain ways and to accept relationship abuse as a normal
part of life. HPC wants teens to become aware of the signs of relationship abuse, whereby understanding
that abuse is not love, but destructive to the total being. This is her passion and contribution toward an effort to a better
society.
Ms. Hameen obtained her Associate
of Arts Degree at Milwaukee Area Technical College, Bachelors of Science Degree at University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee and
Masters of Arts Degree at Amber University in Garland, Texas. She also attended Hands on Therapy School of Massage and is
a registered Massage Therapist with the State of Texas. She has been an educator and trainer for the past 15 years. She has
taught elementary through college age students. She expresses her creativity through her poetry.
She attributes her success to God’s continuous
guidance in all of her endeavors.
